Earlier today, details of the Xbox One sale were slim, but Microsoft stepped in to finally reveal what games will be available and at what prices. One crafty NeoGAF member was able to get his hands on what looked to be some flyers from the sale, but their information did not encompass the entire sale.

For one thing, the images did not include any Xbox releases. It’s also worth mentioning that some of the games listed in the leaked image are not yet on sale.

Multiplayer Madness Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Issue 2. Matchmaking. It is bad. Like really bad. I can’t even describe how bad it is.

Griefing is a tricky art; it can be problematic to give teammates the freedom to sabotage each other, and there are plenty of games where I’ve found that freedom an irritating barrier to progress and fun. After playing Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris with two devs who constantly undermined each other to hilarious effect, I’m hopeful the four-player isometric Tomb Raider will prove an example of good griefing rather than bad.

Its predecessor, Guardian of Light , allowed for griefing with things like dropping the rope while your partner was mid-climb. In our Temple of Osiris session at Gamescom, dropping the grapple hook rope was just about the first thing Crystal Dynamics’ Christopher Johnston did to producer Robert Siwiak, sending his character helplessly into the abyss.

You could tell the grief wasn’t going to stop there. Sorry, Robert,” Johnston chuckled, “It was a total accident As excited as they were about their game, I got the feeling griefing each other was helping the two Crystal Dynamics devs get through days upon days of preview sessions. There was definitely an element of one-upmanship; using pushable boulders to nudge each other off ledges, or the two new god characters’ staffs to summon spikes out of the ground just as someone was about to jump onto a previously spike-less platform.

Those elements are tied to the co-operative puzzles, but the devs just couldn’t resist the opportunity for a good grief. My favorite was courtesy of another returning Guardian of Light feature: bombs.

Multiplayer Madness. Thanks for the ongoing virus and people getting stuck at home, companies trying to help, to entertain. I bought this game a christmas gift for myself back in , but never really got the chance to use the multiplayer feature and boy, was I lucky. Nowadays patches are mostly distributed automatically by the different stores where games can be bought, like e. Steam , PSN , or Xbox Live , while patches for older games had to be actively downloaded and installed. Before the widespread use of broadband internet obtaining patches was difficult and some errors in the early games like the Corner Bug were never fixed.

Nowadays patches and updates are far more easily downloaded and installed, mostly even automatically and without the end user knowing about it. It seems that PC versions of games need patches more often as they are intended to run on a wider variety of target systems, making tweaks and adaptation necessary; however versions for Video Game Consoles are not invulnerable to programming errors. There are some official patches for Tomb Raider games like the Voodoo patch for Tomb Raider or Patch 52 for Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness , as well as some fan made patches to improve compatibility with Operating Systems other than those printed on the box or to give the Level Editor new abilities like higher resolution textures.

PAX Prime 2014 Impressions: Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

Unlike previous games, however, this is the first one of the beloved series playable by four people at once. The story follows our hero, Lara, as she explores the Temple of Osiris. Lara and rival archaeologist Carter break into an ancient temple and are subsequently marked with a curse of death. As the title suggests, the game revolves around the ever popular ancient Egyptian theme and even follows the rivalry of Osiris and his brother Set. The story even offers players an overworld map with story not limited to tombs.

So does the sequel make up for the frustrating late-game mechanics and occasionally frustrating camera angles of the original, but maintain the same great puzzle-solving and combat action? Eh, sort of. The challenge rooms, our favorite aspect of the first game, seem to take a backseat and moreover also seem to demand more than just 2 players to solve some of their more complicated trap rooms and puzzle sequences. These missteps are alleviated by a noticeably expanded loot system that rewards players not only for high-scores, but also for collecting gems which award points as a form of currency themselves.

And the reason why it takes you out of the game every time someone quits is because the number of characters effects the layout of the level.

You can’t finish a level designed for 3 players with only 2 people. The first level for example: In single player there’s an area early on that has an eye on a pillar that you have to shoot then it rotates and you shoot it again, rinse and repeat until the gate opens.
